Michael Turturro's Bio

Michael's musical journey started as a self-taught bass player.
He began formal studies at Queens College in Flushing, Queens, NY, with a classical education in theory and composition and received a B.A. in Music and English.

Michael's experience with analog sound synthesis also began in
college with Moog and Buchla modular synthesizers and
compositions in the style of musique concrete. He continued his
studies with scholarships for workshops in Computer Sound
Synthesis and Computer Composition at the Massachusetts Institute
of Technology.

At the same time, Michael began a long career in music for
advertising, learning the craft of engineering and music
production by recording, creating sound effects, and playing bass
on jingles for New York production houses and Madison Avenue with
the best of the best of New York's studio musicians.

After learning the craft of CD mastering, the circle became
complete, enabling Michael to take his musical projects from
conception through production and onto CD. His CD mastering
credits include mastering the Fast Folk Series for The
Smithsonian Institute.

Band Uno is Michael's musical brain child and the creative outlet
for his original compositions. In addition to the engineering,
production and mastering tasks, he also played all the
instruments on the recordings, with some of New York's finest
musicians helping out with additional instruments and background
vocals.
